REMA Service
REMA (Electrophysiological Recording Service for Animal Models) is a core facility of the Centre for Biomedical Technology (CTB), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. It provides in vivo electrophysiological recording, stimulation and signal analysis in rodent models to research groups, hospitals and companies that do not have their own infrastructure or specialised staff for this type of study.
Techniques available

Cortical and subcortical recording: EEG/ECoG, EMG, acute and chronic LFP, high-frequency recording up to 2 kHz

Slow potentials and vascular activity: infraslow activity, cortical spreading depression, cerebral blood flow by laser speckle

Stimulation: intracortical microstimulation for motor mapping, acoustic stimulation, paired associative stimulation

Evoked potentials: somatosensory, visual and auditory

Animal models: cerebral ischemia (MCAO, photothrombosis), Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, migraine

Data analysis: custom signal-processing pipelines, machine-learning classification, statistical reporting
How to request the service

Contact the service and describe the scientific question and the target animal model.

Joint definition of the experimental design and the required ethical approval.

Data acquisition (surgery, implantation and recording, as required).

Delivery of raw data, analysis, figures, statistics and technical report.
